Moses dies within sight of the promised land he may not enter, and the burial is extraordinary: God Himself buries him, and the location is deliberately hidden, so that 'no one knows' it. The likeliest reason is to prevent the tomb from becoming a shrine or an object of worship, a real danger for so towering a figure. The mystery deepens in the New Testament, where Jude cryptically mentions the archangel Michael disputing with the devil over the body of Moses.

The greatest prophet gets no monument and no marked grave, buried by God in secret. It spares Israel a shrine to venerate, keeping worship fixed on God rather than on His servant.
